Sailing to the Sunset of the South Africa Sea.
Painting Class Taught by Artist Clina Polloni.
This beautiful sunset is based on a painting by Lea De Vries Daniels, an abstract artist that painted her beloved South Africa. Lea signed her work as Lea DeV and her art can be found in many medical institutions and private homes.
This version of the painting has been designed for the painting classes, is a simple and charming painting for a person that is starting to paint and wants to learn to paint a colorful sunset with a sailing boat.
- You can draw or trace the sunset.
- Do your under-paint with acrylics. Apply a wash of light yellow on the sky, water and boat. On the sun and reflections paint white. Also, a white outline over your drawing lines of clouds and water to cover the dark drawing lines.
- With oils or acrylics start painting. First the sun and the colorful sky. Continue with the water, mountains and sail boat. Put special attention to the blending of colors.
- Sign your painting and enjoy it.

About Lea DeV:
Born in Cape Town, South Africa to an American mother and South African father, Lea developed a deep love for her beautiful home country early in life. Her mother and father were active in the anti-apartheid movement and Lea met many notable resistance fighters as a child, including Nelson Mandela.
With the violence in South Africa and the target on her father, Lea and her mother came to Raleigh, NC while Lea was a Freshman in high school. Although she never lived in South Africa again, she visited every year while her father was alive and proclaimed South Africa as the most beautiful place in the world.
Lea battled breast cancer but lost the fight in 2011. She will always be remembered for her big laugh, love of life, and her artistic talent.
