How To Paint Quilt Blocks On Canvas

Quilt Blocks ColorsThese quilt blocks were designed for the painting classes, simple blocks for a person that is starting to paint and wants to learn to paint a quilt block, geometrical forms, colors composition, and organization of symmetrical forms.

Instructions:

  1. Divide your canvas in squares of 4. 5 or 6, depending on the design that you want to paint.

2. Start by drawing geometrical symmetrical forms.

  1. Select a geometrical form and paint 4 of a kind with the same color. Them another 4 consecutive form and paint them, and so on. Always related shapes.

This quilt blocks can be done in 2 medias, Oil Paintings or Acrylics:

Canvas: 8″x8″, or any square canvas.

Colors:

  1. Titanium White
  2. Cadmium Yellow Medium
  3. Cadmium Orange Deep
  4. Permanent Red
  5. Magenta
  6. Permanent Green
  7. Phthalo Green Blue
  8. Cerulean Blue
  9. Ultramarine Blue
  10. Dioxazine Purple

There are many affordable brushes in the market:
Walmart: FolkArt, Gold Taklon, fine details and shading corners detail.
Michael’s: Artist’s Loft, white synthetic brushes.
Jerry’s Arterama: Pro Stroke-Power Creative, fine and medium brushes.
Paper towel.
Plate to mix colors or a Paper Palette. SOHO has a very reasonable paper palette at Jerry’s Arterama.
