The Lady of The Plantation Painting, Instructions and Supply.

In this painting I was inspired by the historical sites, portraying the people of North Carolina in their environment, representing a time and history of our beautiful state.

The Lady of The Plantation” The motif of the human figure in a dialogue with natures light and colors.” A lady dressed in white in her southern plantation garden.

Instructions:

  1. Start by drawing the lady, landscape and house.
  2. Give a soft coat of acrylic gold to the canvas. Gold is very good for under-painting, it creates a worm color that once you put the oils or acrylics in the top, they look brighter.
  3. Next paint landscape, starting with the sky, trees, house, the lady, and reflections in the garden water pond. You can do it with oil paintings or acrylics.
  4. Sign your work of art.

Acrylics: There are many brands of acrylic paintings that I have tested but the one that I like the most is: SOHO, Urban Artistic Acrylic: Excellent paintings, sold at more reasonable price by Jerry’s Arterama. 3060 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. (919) 876-6610.

Oil Paintings: You can buy them at Michael’s, ACMoore, but again the most affordable ones are at Jerry’s Arterama and their brand is LUKAS.

  2. Cadmium Red Light
  3. Alizarin Crimson
  4. Cadmium Yellow Light
  5. Yellow Ochre
  6. Gold
  7. Raw Sienna
  8. Burnt Sienna
  9. Van Dyck Brown
  10. Cerulean Blue
  11. Ultramarine Blue
  12. Prussian Blue
  13. Sap Green
  14. Greenish Umber
  15. Ivory Black

Brushes, multi-purpose, polyvalent. There is a 10pc “Artist’s Loft” that provides most of the brushes for the beginning or the Pro Stroke-Power Creative Mark of Jerry’s Arterama.
For Oil paintings, the best media is Refined Linseed Oil with Refined Turpentine. To clean the brushes Turpernoi. Glass container to mix media.
Brown and black fine point Sharpie.
Easel (a simple table metal easel is fine).
Paper towel.
Plastic plate to mix colors or a Paper Palette. SOHO has a very reasonable paper palette at Jerry’s Arterama.
